Yes,
there is life beyond golf in Scotland. The fishing is famous, the
music marvellous, the walks quite wonderful, and the mountains and
beaches surprisingly beautiful. Granted, you probably won't acquire
tan lines on those beaches, but there are few places like Scotland
where the great outdoors is more appreciated by those who love walking
of all grades amidst scenery to die for.
Hiking the hills, moors, and rugged coastlines, is a long tradition
here.
Very few places in the world, and certainly in the UK, can match the
variety of mixed walking available to guests to Scotland. From the
very gentlest stroll along loch shores and beaches to stunning high
level challenges – even expeditions, the choice is limitless.
As you can imagine from their locations – our hotels are regularly
enjoyed by walkers, hikers, ramblers, climbers – from the rest
of the UK and Western Europe in particular – where some have
told us of some the most relaxing and breathtaking views they have
ever came across in their lives!. We are all uniquely placed to offer
superb walking of endless variety, laced of course with legendary
warm hospitality.
And we support your efforts, exertions and enjoyment with all walker
friendly comforts and facilities, great area guides, maps and local,
often first hand expertise – and of course the all important
picnic and packed lunches – and warmly filled hip flasks too!!
Never take hill walking lightly, always be prepared as the Scottish
climate can be a little erratic to say the least!. We always recommend
that you purchase an Ordnance Survey map of the area you find yourself
in, they are invaluable and there are usually plenty of simpler local
maps usually available from the hotels. And do remember to prepare
yourself well and wear appropriate clothing and footwear for your
walks.
Great walking in Scotland surrounds every doorstep. We particularly
